A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What one can be, one must be.
The Obsession ...
My production art gallery -- dedicated to the siren song of one of the most seductively addictive hobbies I've ever had. I think it's more expensive than crack ... and definitely more addictive!! Well, not that I've ever tried crack ... and, now that I collect cels, I can't try it even if I wanted to. I have to save all my extra pennies for more cels!!! When my daughter asks me why she can't afford to go to college, I shall proudly pull out my cel books and allow her to fawn over each and every one of my celluloid darlings. Higher education is totally overrated, anyhow, right??
The Organization ...
I've decided to separate the gallery out into a few sections for (hopefully) easier browsing. The Obsessions is where I have decided to house the six shows that mean the most to me. These are the shows that keep me coming back for more in this nutty hobby, and the shows I will always love enough to bring them to life, one cel or sketch at a time. I consider these shows -- and the artwork contained within these gallery sections -- the cornerstones of my production art collection, as well as my most special treasures. Plastic is where the rest of the artwork for cel-based shows lives. This section has several different series, as well as a "miscellaneous" gallery for the one- and two-offs that I end up with here and there. Paper is where I've decided to display artwork from different CG shows I collect. I am surprised and thrilled by how much my overall sketch collection has grown. It now encompasses several shows, and I hope it continues to grow. It's definitely special enough to stand on its own here. You will find a few cels within the Graphite Scribbles section, but they are reproduction, rilezu, or fan cels -- not actual production cels. The Omake section contains a few "extras": a small awards section, and a section for original and fan artwork. And, of course, New Stuff is just that -- new stuff!!
The Rules ...
(1) Stealing is bad ... and ... it'll stunt your growth, too!
I started with only two cels. Due to my extreme addiction to these celluloid darlings, my collection has rather exploded, and, now, it has a life of its own. At any rate, now that I have more than two cels, I feel there should be some rules established for the gallery. Well --- only one rule, really. I haven't watermarked any of my cel images, and I really don't want to have to do that, as I feel it interferes with enjoyment of the cel. So, please don't take the images from here. If you feel you "have" to have one of my cel images for your website or whatever, please at least do me the courtesy of asking before you take it. I put a lot of time into these scans, and I'd at least like to know where they are going ... and, for heaven's sake, if worse comes to worse, and you feel you must steal, at least host the images on your own server space!!
(2) Have fun browsing the collection ...
(3) Come back to watch it grow from time to time!
