Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.
Little Bits of Plastic Trash ...
You know what "they" say: One man's trash is another man's treasure. This goes doubly so for someone addicted to painted bits of acetate, as we are, basically, collecting studio trash. Stuff that, at one time, studios would wipe clean once production was over, as they were more interested in re-using the art supplies from one production to the next than preserving what they had created. Or, in worst-case scenarios, stuff that studios flat-out destroyed.
And yet, I can't deny the allure of these beautiful, shiny bits of painted plastic. I wasn't prepared for how all-encompassing and addictive this hobby was when I first began collecting. But now, I wouldn't go back for anything. Sure, this is one silly hobby. Sure, there are some really low times. Sure, there are disappointments and flat-out awful things that happen. And yet, there are also amazing highs. And there is a lot of joy in holding a little piece of a beloved show in your hands ... in seeing a scene or character that touched something in your heart. Once that feeling takes hold ... Well, it never lets go.
